Storytime: Living With Chronic Allergies

Hi friends! We are officially in the midst of summertime, and even though this is my FAVORITE time of year, this season wrecks havoc on my allergies. I was born and raised in Georgia, and if you are from Atlanta then you already know that Georgia has a serious allergy problem. In fact, I know people who moved out of the state just to get some relief from their chronic allergies! As a child, I had asthma and sleep apnea and was chronically living on antihistamines and Flonase. I first started going to Wellstar Medical Group ENT back in 2010 to do my first allergy test. This allergy test helped me figure out exactly what I was allergic to and this was the first time I was introduced to the Wellstar Medical Group ENT staff. For those of you who are not familiar with what an ENT specialist does, they are medical professionals who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions of the ears, nose and throat. According to their website, “An ENT can perform both medical and surgical procedures and treatments not just of the ears, nose and throat but also of other related structures of the neck and head.”

Throughout the years, I’ve met so many of their providers and they truly are all so gifted and professional. They kept me calm and comfortable when I was doing my allergy shots and they also helped with all of my other medical needs, including my septoplasty to correct a deviated septum. Wellstar Medical Group ENT provides healthcare and treatment for any type of ear, nose, throat, allergy, hearing, voice, sleep, facial cosmetic, and sinus related issues in the communities of Atlanta, Alpharetta, Roswell, and Cumming. I love that their websites offers video and blog resources to help you understand the different types of treatments or procedures they offer. My doctor, Dr. Andrew Diamond, wrote a blog post on the process of a balloon sinuplasty, and it helped me better prepare for my procedure. I was terrified of doing this procedure, but after we were done I was 100% comfortable that they would be able to do my septoplasty a year later with no issue. The reason why I decided to fix my deviated septum was because it exacerbating my sleep apnea and I was tired of dealing with chronic sinusitis. Not only did they give me a more shapely nose that fit my face more naturally, but they treated my medical concerns at the same time.

At first I wanted to choose a plastic surgeon instead of an ENT specialist to correct my nose, but once I started researching more information on the education ENT specialist undergo, I knew it was the right decision for me! For one, they have to undergo over 10 years of university and post graduate training before they can apply for the American Board of Otolaryngology certification (followed by passing them American Board of Otolaryngology exam). They have a very strong understanding of facial structure and how every patient must have a different surgery process to account for their specific factors, including age, gender, genetics, etc. I wanted to make sure that not only was my septum completely functional, but that it was also aesthetically pleasing. The community at Wellstar Medical Group ENT did an amazing job at making this surgery process nothing but exceptionally successful and I am so happy that I made the decision to go with their practice. Not only did the septoplasty make me feel more confident, but it relieved so many of my medical issues, including my vertigo.

There are not enough words to describe how happy I am to have found Wellstar Medical Group ENT! They have an incredible reputation in the state of Georgia – and for good reason. They are professional, consistent, educated, helpful, and caring.. everything I look for in a specialist. To learn more, visit their website at https://georgiaent.com/.
